The Ontario Cycling Association is saddened to report the loss of one of its members of the BMX family. Peter Brierley of the Kingston BMX Association passed away Friday morning after a brave battle with liver cancer.

Peter has been involved with Kingston BMX for more than 20 years, most recently as Track Director. He had an amazing talent for visualizing and shaping the dirt into a fast, competitive, safe course that challenged all riders. For him, BMX was a labour of love - he spent his vacations at the track, and traveled widely to attend races. Even from his hospital bed this spring Peter was ordering clay and equipment and organizing a weekend at the track to prepare for upcoming events.

Peter‚s knowledge and love for the sport of BMX were evident in his enthusiasm and the endless hours spent at the track, doing whatever was required. His lifelong dream of BMX being added to the Olympic program was realized just weeks ago.

Our thoughts and sympathy go out to Joanne, Jamie and Amanda during this difficult time. Peter has definitely had an impact on BMX in Kingston and across Ontario. He will be sorely missed.
