Midweek Club Statement

Having read a few of the negative comments about Canadian Cyclist's coverage of the recent Midweek Criterium incident, I feel I must support Rob Jones in his efforts to cover this situation fairly. After the incident happened, I contacted Rob and sent him a copy of my report and actions. I requested that he not use this material without the expressed permission of the OCA, since it had become an association matter. This in my view was the correct protocol. In most sports, neither the organizer nor the officials normally comment on similar situations, leaving it to their respective governing bodies to issue a statement if appropriate. I am confident that, once our development committee has full information from all involved parties, a fair and unbiased decision will be made and publicised in a timely fashion.
