Canadian Cyclist of the Year Awards

There are 10 days to go in voting for the annual Canadian Cyclist of the Year Awards, and it is time for an update on the standings.

In the Male Cyclist of the Year voting, Michael Barry has a slim 3% lead over Eric Wohlberg: 33% to 30%. However, Ryder Hesjedal still isn't out of contention, with 24% of the ballots cast. Junior Max Plaxton has slipped back a bit, but still holds a respectable 14% of the votes.

The Female Cyclist of the Year is still wide open. Marie-Helene Premont and Lyne Bessette are in a virtual tie at 25% each (Premont leads by a mere two votes, out of thousands cast). Alison Sydor is very close, at 23%, and Genevieve Jeanson holds 20%. This one could still go to any of these riders.

The Ride of the Year is becoming a blowout for Michael Barry, with 44% of the ballots directed to him. In a distant tie for second, at 12% each, are Alison Sydor and Genevieve Jeanson, with Marie-Helene Premont a further 1% back.

You can cast your vote for the Canadian Cyclist of the Year Awards by clicking on the Vote button at the top of your screen. Balloting closes at Noon EST, December 12th.
