Liam Killeen Signs with Subaru-Gary Fisher for 2004

British mountain bike ace Liam Killeen is upping the ante in 2004 racing full-time on the Subaru-Gary Fisher race team. Liam has split his time the last two seasons between the professional Subaru-Gary Fisher team and the Great Britain National Cycling Team.
The Subaru-Gary Fisher Team Manager Tyler Pilger has high expectations from Liam in 2004. "We are hoping the consistency of being with us full-time will help Liam continue his development. He typically only races one NORBA per year in Vermont and has finished in the top 10, but he is not well known in the US. We are looking forward to changing that for 04."
Tyler characterizes the 21-year-old Liam as an incredibly well balanced and fit athlete who can punish his competitors with his brute strength. Liam also has superior handling skills that come from his days racing motocross. "Liam is super focused and his motivations are where they need to be, I believe he will be scary fast in the next few years."
Liam's accomplishments in 2003 include becoming the first British rider to win the overall U23 World Cup Title in cross-country. His World Cup season was highlighted by his eleventh place finish at Mount St Anne. In the U23 World Championships, Liam battled through a flat tire to finish a close forth. Liam placed seventh in his only NORBA event of the season at Mt Snow.
"I expect Liam to spend a lot of time on the podium this season," say Dean Gore, Subaru-Gary Fisher Team Director. "He has developed into a top professional and possesses a dangerous combination of skill and strength. We look forward to continuing our relationship with one of the most talented young athletes in the world."
2004 will see Liam moving to North America to race the full NORBA season and select World Cups. His major goals will also include the Olympics and the U23 World Championships.
