Last night's PacificSport year end gala was well attended. Many athletes were in attendance due to an Olympic briefing today and an upcoming week long training camp for National team members.

CCA Awards

Presidents Trophy - to Michael Barry

Russ Coupland - to Samantha Cools (World Champion in cruiser BMX)

Pacific Sport Awards

Best Junior - Max Plaxton

Best Under 23 - Cameron Evans

Elite Male - Ryder Hesjedal

Elite Female - Alison Sydor

Fair Play
Male - Carter Hovey

Female - Chrissy Redden

Most Promising
Male- Max Plaxton

Female - Kiara Bissaro

Pacific Sport Ambassador - Alison Sydor

Alison gave a very inspirational speech after receiving her award. She recounted how, after the" worst World Cup season start" of her career, she set about to remotivate herself in preparation for the World Championships (where she took a silver medal).

Other news:

• Chris Sheppard and Seamus McGrath have just signed 2 year contracts with Haro.

• Dominique Perras is still looking for a team. Team Flanders will go for 2004, but without iteamNova. Flanders has offered him a position but the dollar amount is too low. Perras says that it is really tough to find a good offer.

• Manon Jutras has 2 offers she is evaluating, one in the US and one in Europe.
