New Team for Sabine Spitz
Bike Sport News has announced that world champion Sabine Spitz has revealed her new squad (Spitz left Merida at the end of last year). There is a new German mountain bike team featuring current World Champion Sabine Spitz and Four-Crosser Guido Tschugg. It is called the Fusion Pro-Team. Fusion is a German bike manufacturer whose Float-Link-System for full suspension bikes has received the highest praise in German magazines. For further details please check www.bike-sport-news.de.
Manibal Nominated
Montreal World Cup organizer Daniel Manibal has been nominated by the UCI for the IOC's Women in Sport award. Manibal and his organization won the UCI's World Cup organizer award in 2001. The winners will be announced in Morroco on March 7th at the IOC's Women in Sport conference. The full release appears below.

Montréal, le 15 janvier 2004 - Pour une deuxième année d'affilée, M. Hein Verbruggen, président de l'Union cycliste internationale (UCI), a désigné M. Manibal, président et directeur général des Épreuves de la Coupe du monde cycliste féminine de Montréal comme candidat au trophée Femme et sport pour 2004. Ce trophée est décerné par le Comité international olympique (CIO).
Au cours des dernières années, Monsieur Manibal a été honoré tant au niveau régional qu'international. La reconnaissance la plus marquante pour l'année 2003 a été l'obtention du diplôme du mérite Femme et sport. Ce diplôme, décerné par le président du Comité international olympique (CIO), Jacques Rogge, a été remis à M. Manibal en reconnaissance de son investissement important dans le sport féminin, notamment dans le cyclisme. Placée au rang des plus grandes compétitions internationales telles le Tour de France et le Giro d'Italie, la Coupe du monde cycliste féminine de Montréal a également remporté le trophée de Meilleure Organisation de Coupe du monde féminine en 2001 par l'Union cycliste internationale.
Le Trophée du CIO Femme et Sport est décerné chaque année en reconnaissance d'actions remarquables et de progrès accomplis pour développer, encourager et renforcer la participation des femmes et des jeunes filles à tous les niveaux du monde sportif. Six (6) trophées sont décernés (un par continent et un au niveau mondial) à une femme, à un homme (ancien athlète, entraîneur, administrateur ou journaliste) ou à un organisme qui a permis de développer, d'encourager et de renforcer la participation des femmes et des jeunes filles dans des activités physiques et sportives.
La remise des prix aura lieu le 7 mars 2004 à Marrakech, au Maroc, dans le cadre de la 3e Conférence mondiale du CIO sur la Femme et le Sport.

The Council and Committee Services is reviewing Burlington DirtJumps and its worth to the community.
There is a council meeting set for February 10th at 7:00p.m. It will be held in Council Chambers 2nd Floor at City Hall.
We know it sounds boring but if any of you can show up and show support for this park we would really appreciate it. Otherwise there is a good chance that this coming season could be our last.
The volunteers of the Burlington Dirt Jumps will all be there so you will not feel lonely. And who knows maybe this experience can help in your civics class.
If you are not able to attend. Could you just jot down a few thoughts about the park and send them to either to terry@burlingtondirtjumps.com or debbie@burlingtondirtjumps.com. We would like to include this in our report.

LINDEN, NJ - After a successful 2003-road campaign, the management of Team Colavita Sports is proud to announce the 2004 Colavita Olive Oil Pro Cycling Team presented by Bolla Wines. This year sees the return of Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil as official title sponsor and Bolla Wines as the official presenter. Late in 2003 Team Colavita Sports decided to develop the professional cycling team into one of world-class stature. The stellar signing of Mark McCormack as team captain began the process of developing the "new-look" squad. Following in the footsteps of Mark McCormack, was the signing of ex-Saturn stars Ivan Dominguez, Nathan O'Neil and Will Frischkorn. Directeur Sportif Chad Davis was quoted as saying, "the signing of Mark McCormack was the leap needed to develop the squad and acquire a solid road captain. Having Mark on the team was more than director could ask. The additions of experience, youth, speed and extraordinary talent in Ivan Dominguez, Nathan O'Neil, Will Frischkorn, Todd Herriott (ex-Healthnet), and Aaron Olson (ex-Schroder Iron) has bolstered our roster to make us one of the top teams in 2004." Riders Tyler Wren, Thad Dulin, Guatavo Artacho, Sebastian Alexandre and Juan Jose Haedo, returning from last year round up the 11 man professional team. The team is focused to defend McCormack's USPRO Championship title in Philadelphia this year and with the recent Australian National Championship win by Nathan O'Neil (ITT); the team is well on its way. Chief Mechanic Randy Villanueva and Team Physician Dr. Michael Ross, will meet the team in Tucson, Arizona this February too begin the 2004 NRC campaign. The 2004 US racing season will officially begin at the Valley of the Sun Race in Phoenix, Arizona. Colavita Pro Cycling is especially excited about this year's equipment, clothing and nutritional sponsors and would like to thank each of them for their assistance. Felt SC1 bicycles outfitted with Mavic wheels and brakes, Maxxis tires, Speedplay Pedals, FSA (bar, stems and seat post), Velo saddles, Shimano drive trains and Tacx water cages will carry the team to victories this year. Giordana clothing, Diadora shoes, Rudy Project Helmets and Eyewear will outfit the team. The team is proud to announce two new sponsors to the cycling industry in Amino Vital; official sports supplement drink supplier and Olbas.
