The UCI Management Committee met in Pont-Château (FRA) on the occasion of the 2004 Cyclo-cross World Championships. At this first session of the year, the Management Committee adopted an Ethical Code and attributed the following World Championships:

MTB Marathon 2005 : Lillehammer (NOR)
MTB Marathon 2006 : Oisans (FRA)
BMX 2006: Rio de Janeiro (BRA)
Cyclo-Cross 2007: Hooglede-Gits (BEL)
Cyclo-Cross 2008: Treviso (ITA)

For the attribution of 2010 Road World Championships, priority will be given to out-of-Europe candidatures.

As for the Road cycling reform which will come into force on January 1st 2005, the plan for reclassification of events and redefinition of teams was presented to the Management Board. (Ed. Note: we will be reporting on this later today)

The Management Board approved the principle of the Cyclo-cross reform, focussed on the creation of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup Series which will begin during the 2004-2005 season, and with the calendar defined by the end of March.

The introduction of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Series will consist of:

- Restructuring the calendar, with 23 available dates for this new series of 14 events minimum, distributed in at least 6 countries (including for some of them Women, under 23 and Juniors)

- Protected dates (no other competitions in class 1 on the same day) for events of the series

- The establishment of a UCI individual ranking

- The establishment of a ranking by UCI nations based on results of the 3 best riders of each country who can enter 8 riders on each event of the series

- A direct qualification system for the World Championships linked to the individual ranking

- Granting of prizes and travel allowances based on the UCI individual ranking during each event.
