New Sponsor for Symmetrics

VANCOUVER, B.C. (February 23, 2004) - Symmetrics Cycling is proud to announce Northern Feather DreamMakers (www.nfdreammakers.com) as a partner sponsor of the Symmetrics Cycling team. Northern Feather DreamMakers, the west coast's premiere purveyor of luxury sleep products, is well recognized for its high quality duvets, pillows, linens and mattresses. Look for their flagship store on fourth and Burrard in Vancouver, BC. Northern Feather DreamMakers relies on its Scandinavian heritage to provide sleep-lovers with the ultimate in quality bedding products. CEO and founder Ted Nilsson cites his Scandinavian heritage as the source of his initial interest in Symmetrics Cycling: "Road cycling is a popular and prominent sport in Europe and something I followed closely in my native Denmark. Northern Feather DreamMakers is proud to sponsor Symmetrics Cycling, a team which reflects the type of commitment to quality we are known for."

Ted Nilsson's Northern Feathers DreamMakers was a major donor in the 2003 Symmetrics Cycling charity campaign, which raised over $50,000.00 for the BC Special Olympics. In 2004, Symmetrics Cycling continues its vision of future Olympians helping Special Olympians, with another year of fundraising and an expansion of team sponsorship.

Cam Evans Update
Courtesy Jeremy Storie

It is noted in Daily News under the Espoir Project story that Cam Evans is racing with a French club team this year. That was originally the case, but due to a training accident in December (a crash at the Burnaby velodrome), Cam was temporarily delayed in his training and missed 3 weeks on the bike and is still receiving rehab on a damaged elbow.

Cam will remain in Canada racing for Symmetrics from the start of the season until after BC Superweek, when he will look at possible European projects. Cam's first notable races with Symmetrics will be Vuelta de Bisbee, Tour of the Gila and Columbia Plateau.

Update on Florida Injuries

Yesterday we reported that two riders were injured at the national track camp in Florida. Josée Robitaille, team manager for Trek-VW, the team both Pascal Choquette and Bruno Langlois ride for, has provided further information on the injuries.

"Choquette broke a toe from a scooter crash. The guys did motor pacing and when Pascal returned the scooter to the rental shop, a car made a dangerous move and Pascal tried to avoid it, and then hit a hole and crashed. That's how he broke his big toe.

As far as it goes for Bruno Langlois, the day before the Choquette accident, Bruno got hit by a car, and was hurt a little bit, but he's now ok, and apparently did very well on the track today (Monday).

His Trek bike was destroyed in the accident, but thanks to the Trek people in the US, Bruno got a brand new bike within 24 hours.

So both riders are fine. Pascal came back home, since he was not able to wear his bike shoes."

Gears Spin for the Ring Raises $400,000

The Gears Racing 24 Hour Spin for the Ring attracted 1800 participants last weekend for a fundraising spin-a-thon which raised $400,000 for a breast cancer diagnostic centre. Now in its fifth year, the Gears events have raised more than $1 million to date.
