Our correspondent Leigh Hargrove (Pushbikes.ca) has called in a report from the final stage of the men's race.

The Sunset Road race for the men is 142 kilometres, consisting of two and a quarter laps of the criterium circuit, and then 11 laps of the 10.5 kilometre Sunset loop, with a major climb and descent each lap. Just as in the women's race, a break got away on the first climb - 13 riders in total. We do not have names of all 13 at this point, but some of the riders include Eric Wohlberg (Sierra Nevada), Jurgen Zan den Broeck (US Postal), Ben brooks (Jelly Belly) and Scott Moninger (Health Net), Gordon McCauley (Monex), Will Frischkorn (Colavita) and Jacob Erker (Team Seasilver). The gap reached a maximum of 2:10, but is currently at 1:30 with 3 laps remaining. Webcor is driving the vastly reduced peloton (no more than 30 riders), with assistance from Jittery Joe's Coffee. Also, Gord Fraser and Mike Sayers (both Health Net) are out of the race after suffering flats in the first lap.
