Notes:

• Admission to all races for spectators is FREE (unlike Europe and some U.S. World Cups).
  
  
• We will be reporting live (lap-by-lap) from Canmore, and putting up complete stories with photos after each race.
  
  
• You can bring your bike to spectate, since the organizers have laid out spectator routes to follow much of the course.
  
  
• So far, 143 men and 72 women are registered, Now they may not all necessarily show up, but one of the more intriguing entries in the women‚s race is Paola Pezzo (Gary Fisher). Pezzo, if you remember, did not show up for Plymouth, and announced that she was turning her focus for the rest of the season to the World Championships and an attempt on the World Hour Record. However, last week she finished a very credible 4th overall in a road stage race in Italy - does this mean that she will make an appearance with revitalized form?

Vets Planning on Attending the World‚s - Take Note

This information was passed on to us concerning the $60 Support Fee that Veterans must pay to the CCA (Canadian Cycling Association) if they are competing at the Mountain Bike Worlds this September (in Mont Ste Anne, Québec).

The support fee was set by the CCA High Performance committee to assist veteran riders competing at the Mountain Bike World Championships.  In the past, the veteran riders who have attended Worlds have had very little direct support at the World Championships.  The National Team support staff has been stretched to its limit just assisting the elite athletes, let alone the veteran riders.  Since the High Performance committee did not want to see this happen again they decided to ensure that the necessary support is provided for veteran riders in the future.
 
The fee is not optional.  If you want to compete at Worlds you must have support.  The CCA will hire team managers whose only duty will be to work with the veteran riders (the number of managers will vary depending on the number registrations we receive).  These managers will attend the restricted UCI meetings on the riders behalf (riders are not permitted to attend these meetings).  They will feed the veteran riders during the race (the feedzone requires special accreditation as well).  Also, there will be mechanics available to help veteran riders prepare for their events.
 
This year we may have up to 300 veteran riders attending the World Championships in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec so we wanted to ensure that it is a positive experience.
