3rd Coup de France

Saint-Amand, France

In the 3rd race in the French cup for women, Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli or Sonia Huguet were as the riders to watch.. Huguet has the overall lead in the series, but Longo is close on her heels.

Sue Palmer-Komar decided that that was fine, she would let them have a go at each other and took the win, thank you very much..

(the following is from a phone conversation with her husband Chris)

130 riders were entered in today's race, but the weather was, typically European, wet, cold and raining heavily, so none were too brave to go it alone. The finishing circuit was another matter though and a group of 4 got away (Huguet) and had a 40 second gap. Longo put her head down and chased hard, taking Kathy Marcel and Palmer-Komar with her. With 4 laps to go they caught the leaders. With less than a lap to go Huguet attacked and went away on the climb taking Longo and 2 others with her. Palmer-Komar attacked on the downhill, and caught them with with 300 metres to go and then took the sprint finish win.
