2004 Aztech GP Canceled
Due to unforseen difficulties, Team Aztech Cycling has been forced to cancel the 2004 Aztech GP, which would have taken place July 10 and 11.
We are planning a great event for 2005.
Thanks,
Team Aztech Cycling
Sports Park at the EX
Public Meeting For Community Comment on the proposed sports park.
Monday July 19th, 7:00 p.m.
Queen Blizabeth building,, Exhibition grounds, west end, second floor (the fountain room)
If you are in Toronto on July 19, your support would be gratefully appreciated at this meeting.
Please come!!!
The proposed Sports Park is moving along, albeit slowly. After the community meeting comes official approval from the Board of Directors for Exhibition Place, then official approval from Toronto City Council. After many years, green flags are starting to appear!
But in order to see a Sports Park in about 2 years, your support is needed NOW. Come and voice your opinion and show any community residents opposed to the idea of a Sports Park that this facility is needed in this (as close as we'll ever get to) downtown location.
If you can't make it, you can support the park by e-mailing Councillor Sylvia Watson (Parkdale) at councillor_watson@toronto.ca
It would also be great to hear what you'd like to see on the site. Right now the proposed site has 80,000 square feet available PLUS a sizeable parkette area for picnic tables and such. Once the plan receives approval, the plan is to secure Jim Barnum (of Port Union and Vanderhoof fame) to build a 30,000 to 35,000 square foot permanent skateboard area and a smaller semi-permanent BMX freestyle area (like what Jay Miron had at the MetroBMXJam at the Ricoh Coliseum back in March), then add a 900 foot clay/dirt BMX race track (to train for the Olympics, of course) and a small clay/dirt BMX rhythm track. It will be the FIRST Sports Park of its kind in North America to combine all extreme sports in one park. Don't fret ˆthe clay/dirt is sealed so the dust doesn't fly and there's a tire-cleaning transition area between the dirt and the concrete.
It would be awesome if you could attend. If not, please tell some friends to come.
