Tour de France
Crashes continue to plague the Tour, with a large one happening literally under the 1 kilometre to go banner, which held up most of the field. Of those who made it through, it was Tom Boonen (Quickstep-Davitmon) taking his first stage win in his first ever Tour, ahead of yesterday's winner Stuart O'Grady (Cofidis), with Erik Zabel (T-Mobile) third. Green jersey wearer Robbie McEwen (Lotto-Domo) went down in the crash, and O'Grady took over the lead in the Points Competition. It appears that all the top contenders were caught behind the crash, but they have been given the same finishing time as the winner. Yellow jersey Thomas Voeckler (Brioches La Boulangere) was also caught behind the crash, but only lost a few bonus seconds to O'Grady, and there was no change in the GC.
