The 26th annual Alberta Provincial Hill Climb Championships will be contested Sunday, September 19th on the Mt. Norquay road at Banff.
While the climb is not tremendously long at 5.5 kilometres, it does have the feel of a true mountain ascent, with several switchback corners, a steady grade, fabulous views of the town of Banff, and the occasional bighorn sheep. Records for the event have been kept since 1991, when roadwork forced the revision of the course to its current status. The 2004 event will be hosted, as in previous years, by the Bow Cycle/Cyclemeisters club of Calgary.
