Symmetrics Cycling adds depth, experience and winning ways with Jacob Erker and Cory Lange

Immediately following the 2004 Canadian Road Race Championships, Healthnet professional and Canadian Olympian Gord Fraser had high praise for the Symmetrics team. "They rode like pros today; very impressive. They knew what they needed to do, and had riders in all the right moves. It was good to see a team riding like that in Canada."

In keeping with Symmetrics Cycling's mandate to develop Canadian cycling talent on a Canadian team Jacob Erker and Cory Lange have been signed for the 2005 season. Lange is a former Marco Polo professional and Erker a former Team Seasilver professional; both bringing vast arrays of experience to Symmetrics.

Lange, of Langley B.C., has been a staple on the international scene winning the Tour of Korea and finishing 7th overall at the Sea Otter Classic in 2004. This will not be Cory's first time with Symmetrics as he was a guest rider on the team in 2003 winning the Columbia Plateau Stage Race in central Oregon. Lange is a soft spoken person that may be one of the most underrated riders in the peloton. As a good all-rounder Lange has honed his skills as a climber, time trialist, and sprinter, but is particularly adept at the long solo break.

Cory Lange commented, "I'm excited for next year and I think we'll pull off some great results."

Erker, a Calgary born rider, has resided for the past five years in southern California racing for Schroeder Iron for two years prior to Team Seasilver. Erker's stature and results have grown steadily over the years and despite doing the lion's share of managerial work for Team Seasilver in 2005 Jacob pulled off some impressive results. Erker shines when the road travels up and won the Vuelta a Valencia and had a very strong Redlands Bicycle Classic placing 9th overall en route to winning the King of the Mountain's competition against the best climbers in North America.

Jacob Erker commented, "I really think this team is going to make a huge presence across North America and I am very happy to be a part of that. I'm very happy with the group of riders (Symmetrics) have organized. It's going to be a lot of fun. I also look forward to offering some direction to the younger guys, especially in terms of my knowledge of races I've done in the past"

Symmetrics Cycling Director Jeremy Storie says, "Signing Cory and Jake will allow both these riders to flourish on an all-Canadian team while offering their extensive race experience to our younger developing riders."
