On October 27th, the Coaching Association of Canada announced its 2004 award winners, and two cycling coaches are among those honored.

The Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Awards are presented to coaches whose athletes won medals over the past year at open world championships, Olympic Games, Special Olympics World Games or Paralympic Games.

From Quebec, cycling coach Michel Leblanc of St. Nicolas, coached mountain biker Marie-Hélène Prémont to her win of the silver medal in the women's cross-country event at the 2004 Olympic Games.  Also from Quebec, Eric Van den Eynde of St. Bruno, assisted track cyclist Lori-Ann Muenzer, winner of the Gold medal in women's sprint, also at the summer Olympics.

The awards will be given out at the Sport Leadership Awards Dinner on Friday October 29th in Winnipeg.  The dinner is the highlight of the two-day Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif 2004 conference.
