Symmetrics Cycling Expands its Elite Women's Program

In keeping with Symmetrics Cycling's mandate to provide the best opportunities to B.C. riders returning elite women Mandy Poitras and Marni Hambleton will be joined by Maria Lee and Christina Briante to comprise the Symmetrics Cycling Elite Women's Team for 2005. This fourperson team boasts remarkable credentials.

Mandy Poitras (Langley, BC), a 12-time National Champion, multiple World Cup winner, and Worlds silver medalist on the track, will continue to race for Symmetrics on the road. Marni Hambleton (Vancouver, BC) is the current BC Criterium champion and a past BC Cup Series Champion, who is rarely off the podium in any event she enters. Joining Mandy and Marni will be up and coming racers Maria Lee (Vancouver, BC) and Christina Briante (Victoria, BC).

Relatively new to racing, Lee and Briante have shown impressive results, specifically in BC Superweek the past two years. Lee has two podiums and four fourth places in the 2003 and 2004 Tour de Delta and Tour de White Rock. Both riders possess skills that will compliment the other riders giving the Symmetrics Elite women's team a deep and balanced attack for 2005. The race calendar for the Symmetrics Elite Women's Team will be comprised of local BC and NW races including the BC Cup Road Series, BC Superweek, and the National Road Championships.

Symmetrics Cycling director Jeremy Storie says, "The continuation and growth of our elite women's team was a logical step towards our vision. Our women will be a dominant force on the Northwest cycling scene. Symmetrics Cycling looks forward to supporting Mandy, Marni, Maria and Christina in pursuit of their goals and is very excited to have the opportunity to develop a women's team."
