UCI mountain bike ranking leader Roel Paulissen without team for 2005

On Monday, 15th November 2004 the Siemens mobile Cannondale team management has announced to the current UCI mountain bike ranking leader that he will no longer be signed with the team for 2005. Roel has been a member of the succesfull team since 2002 and has had a significant contribution to the realisation of the team succes in the last few years. That was really unexpected bad news for Roel Paulissen as a verbal agreement already existed for 2005.

Roel Paulissen:"I was really shocked when I got the phone-call on Monday; I had just arrived in Ireland for a few days of holidays and then this happened. I was convinced to stay with Siemens mobile Cannondale. Now the year 2004 is almost over and I have to find another team yet! A big friend of me, former team leader of American Eagle and Be-One, Ruud Poels and I are busy now calling around and contacting people. If I don't succeed in finding an existing team, I will try to start a team for myself. I have some contacts to some people who really want to help me out of this situation. We will see what the next weeks bring - I don't want to believe that in 2005 the current UCI ranking leader has to stay without any team∑"
