Ride with Rendall Winter Series Stage 3

The next stage of the Ride with Rendall Winter Series will be held at the Peak Centre this coming Sunday December 19th. The stage will once again be FREE in order to give new riders a chance to experience Indoor racing and to thank racers for being patient with last weeks stage postponement.(due to Hydro working on a main line in the area).

Starting at 7am, riders will race head to head on Multirider Computrainers in various heats throughout the day. To book your heat and start time call the Peak Centre at 737-PEAK.

This stage will be the first running of a set time trial course that will be used once a month throughout the series to help riders gauge their fitness progression.

Seventh Annual Icebike Event February 6th, 2005, The Forks, Winnipeg, MB

On February 06, 2005 at The Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada the seventh annual Icebike Event will take place. This mountain bike race is held on the Red River and its surrounding area, namely The Forks and The Parks Canada Forks National Historic Site

Woodcock Cycleworks is the bicycle shop that has been the main sponsor since Icebike's inception. The event has grown from 40 competitors in 1998 to 195 competitors in 2004 with riders from as far away as Duluth Minnesota. With three distances and male/female categories there is a category to please every cyclist. There is also a prerace event for children taking place at 11:15a.m.

The event is supported by the The Forks Renewal Corporation and the Rivertrail crew who are pivotal in providing us with a course to compete on. With the cooperation of The Forks and Parks Canada we can provide spectators with an entertaining spectacle they can comfortably observe. The Icebike event is billed as a fun event in which riders of all abilities can participate in and have a good time.

The 3 distance (approximations) categories are 3km-snowflake, 10km-icicle, 20km-abominable with male and female categories in each.

Registration is at 10a.m. and the kid's race starts at 11:15 on the river surface.

For the past two events we have associated ourselves with Winnipeg Harvest and we consider it a privilege to share the generosity of our sponsors and participants once again this year.

2005 Team Sugoi presented by Giant Bicycles

Team Sugoi presented by Giant Bicycles will be back in action on the BC Cup scene in 2005. With a line-up which includes past BC Cup Winners along with talented up-and-comers, Team Sugoi is intended to be a developmental opportunity for the younger generation of XC riders in BC.

"I'm really excited about the growth of the program in 2005," said Team Coordinator Bryan Anderson. "We're trying to establish a stepping stone for athletes who have demonstrated the commitment and drive to progress in the sport. BC has a long-standing tradition of turning out some of the best XC racers in the World, and we want to make sure that doesn't change."

All the riders will be racing and training on Giant MTB and road bikes. "The addition of Giant as our equipment sponsor is a perfect extension of our program. They have a strong presence in the race scene and their complete range of XC, Road and Cross bikes will allow the athletes to challenge themselves in whatever disciplines they wish."

The roster consists of past BC Cup Champions Andrew Kyle and Drew Mackenzie, up-and-comers Stefan Widmer, Graeme Bant, Leah Guloien and Alyssa Garrison along with Masters World Champion Nels Guloien and Team Co-ordinator Bryan Anderson.
