London Velodrome Update

The meeting scheduled with the owners of the building today was canceled because of the weather. It is rescheduled for Sunday or Monday.

Referring to events held on the premises: We were aware of the Stock Car Race at the building last weekend, the promoter & landlord are good friends, and it was arranged in early December before Albert & I made contact with the Property owner.

In speaking with the owner on Friday & this morning he is still behind our vision for the facility.

Bottom line is $$$$$ - you have to have enough reserves for operations, my goal was to have the first year covered, with the Velodrome built & operating.

So far we have lots of commitments to support the project, but very little personal Tax Deductible donations have come in - $100.00 from Garnett Abbey (thanks Garnett) to be specific. We have been told build it & they will come ......... that's easy to say, a lot harder to put your neck on the line. Remember that all monies collected are being held in a Lawyer's Trust Account & can not be touched until they are required.

I want to have an agreement in place with the Property owner by early next week. There is no rush, as the property owner is & has been very accommodating.

I was speaking with our website guy Steve Karpik, Steve is trying to have the site live by the end of the weekend.

To date we have collected enough money to almost build the track, now we
need the operations money. Without it, our goal to start construction in early February may be compromised.

I trust this has enlightened you. Please keep this in perspective, The project is less than a month old. We need and will continue to need as much help as you can give be it money, time, expertise, whatever.

Communication is very important in making the Sports Complex a reality. I will keep you updated with as much information as I have.

Late news: Thanks to the hard work of Steve Karpik our webmaster, www.ForestCityVelodrome.ca went on line at 11pm. This is the first draft, much more will be added as time goes on. Forest City Velodrome news, & possibly links to track news around the world may be added down the road.

Schedules of construction, Riding times will also be posted once we get closer.

Editor's Note: We have agreed to run credit card donations through our secure server once the Velodrom website is built - the actual credit card processing will be through the OCA, so that tax receipts can be issued.
