2005 Sugoi Dirt Series presented by Rocky Mountain: Technical Bike Skills for Everyday Life

In the past four years, the coaches of the Sugoi Dirt Series women's technical mountain bike camps have given hundreds of women new skills and confidence on their bikes. More than that, lives have been changed as the self-esteem gained from conquering fears and riding the previously impossible inevitably carries back into everyday life.
The Whistler-based Sugoi Dirt Series was started in British Columbia, and expanded east into Alberta, before making its first trips to the US last year. Now the program features a total of 18 camps in two provinces and four states: BC, Alberta, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and California.
During its lifetime, the Dirt Series has refined and perfected its camp format to include personalized skills instruction and group rides flexible enough to accommodate beginners to expert riders, along with bike fit, gear demos, and maintenance sessions.
"Just when you think things are as awesome as they can be, they get even better," said Dirt Series Founder and Director Candace Shadley. "We have world class coaches excited about the start of the season, participants calling daily to register, and more sponsor support than ever before. These are the things that drive us to continually expand our schedule. OK, and also the fact that we love what we do."
Though there has been demand for camps across North America and into Europe, the Dirt Series remains determined to ensure that every camp is as good as it can be. "One of the keys to the success of the Sugoi Dirt Series is the emotional commitment of the coaches, and we never want to reach the point where our schedule is so busy that we end up giving less than our best."
2005 will be Sugoi's third year as title sponsor: "The Dirt Series has really been great for our brand," said Charles Russell, Sugoi's Director of Sales. "At the same time as they work to grow one of our core sports, they are out there being really authentic brand messengers and creating an enormous amount of company goodwill."
Along with Sugoi's continued support, there are exciting new sponsorship developments for the Dirt Series: Rocky Mountain Bikes has stepped up their involvement to become the Presenting Sponsor of the Series and that will mean more bike demo opportunities for campers. At the same time, Fox Shox has signed on as a new Associate sponsor, joining returning sponsors like Powerbar and Nokian.
