The Canadian Cycling Association is proud to congratulate both Athens Olympic cycling medalists, Lori-Ann Muenzer and Marie-Hélène Prémont, for being nominated among the three finalists for the Female Athlete of the Year award on offer as part of the 32nd Annual Canadian Sport Awards, designed to recognize and celebrate outstanding athletic performance in 2004.
Paralympic multiple gold medalist Chantal Petitclerc is the other candidate for this award.
Muenzer, from Edmonton, AB, won gold in the sprint event at the Athens Olympic Velodrome after winning bronze at the 2004 Track World Championships in Melbourne, Australia.
Prémont, from Chateau Richer, QC, won the mountain bike cross country silver medal at the Olympic Games and went on to finish 4th at the 2004 World Championships in Les Gets, France.
The award will be handed out in Toronto at the Canadian Sport Awards Gala on March 29, 2005. The gala will be televised March 31 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET on TSN.
