National junior pursuit champion Charly Vivès of Montreal confirmed his place in the Pro-Elite peloton over Easter Weekend in Albany. A member of the SG/Espoirs Laval National Cycling team, Vivès has shown signs of a great future over the first two stages of the Johnny Cake Lane spring series in Albany, New York.
With teamates and general classification leaders Joël Dion-Poitras and François Sztuke out of the lineup this weekend, Vivès managed 4th in the second stage, improving by two places on his finish last week. After hard riding by the SG/Espoirs team throughout the race was unable to pull back two riders in the break, Vivès was able to come through in the sprint after the group pulled back several late attacks.
After the second of three stages, the SG/Espoirs Laval team still holds a lock on the general classification, with 5 riders in the top ten, with notably Joël Dion-Poitras tied for first and François Sztuke tied for second. The team can also look to Antoine Stundner currently in 4th, and Charly Vives and Marc-Wayne Addison, in 6th and 8th, who can still challenge for the overall title during the final race of the series on April 2nd, 2005.
