Preliminary Results from Canada Cup #5
Our reporter Greg Flaaten has telephoned in preliminary results from the cross-country races at Canada Cup #5 at Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. There was no protest today, and the racing was very aggressive. Amber Chorney (Bean Around the World) was the dominant rider in the women‚s competition, putting over 7 minutes on second place finisher Trish Sinclair (Kona). Leslie Hunter (GT) rounded out the top 3. The men‚s race wasn‚t quite so cut and dried, with Chad Miles leading for much of the 6 1/2 lap race, before a strong attack from the chase group by Adam Walker (Rip n Hammer/Gary Fisher) took the Victoria rider past Miles for the win. George Visser was third. Ryder Hesjedal (Kona) was, as expected, the Junior Men‚s winner, with the only question being how many of the senior men he could catch before the end of the race (Greg figures about half the field...). Will have a full report and results to follow, plus an interview with the organizer about the downhill rider protest (tomorrow).
