Sad News
Marcel Mulholland has just informed us that his father Mike Mulholland passed away during the night. Mike was involved in the Canadian bicycle scene for over 25 years, and began racing long before that in his native England, beginning in 1953. After moving to Canada he continued with the sport, and opened Cyclops Bicycles, after purchasing equipment from Jocelyn Lovell.
At Cyclops, Mike specialized in custom steel frames for road, track and cyclo-cross. He sponsored numerous riders, and his bicycles could be found all across North America. Mike also coached many riders, and was always available for advice. While he worked primarily with steel, Mike was constantly keeping up with the latest advances, and whenever I would see him, the conversation invariably turned to bicycles, and new designs that he was working on.
Our condolences to his family. Marcel has informed us that there will probably be a celebration of Mike's life in the next few days, and will let us know the details as soon as possible. Please post your memories and thoughts of Mike in the Forums.
