Giant Bicycle Canada Update

We are pleased to announce that Giant Canada's Luke Kitzanuk has won the Canadian National series overall title. Luke's second place finish at the last National series event earned him enough points to keep his series lead and claim Canada's number one ranking for 2005!

Finishing very close to his teammate, Giant Canada's Eric Goss rode his way into third place overall in Canada. With solid results all year long, Eric moved his way up through the rankings with each consecutive race to give Giant Canada a strong one-two punch in the Pro Men's field.

Not to be outdone, Giant Canada's Danika Schroeter has also won the Canadian National series overall title in the Pro Women's class! With Danika's nail-biting win at the last National series event she earned just enough points to steal the win away from her second place rival.

We finally did it! On top of the many victories and titles Giant Canada's race team has laid claim to over the years, our last milestone in our successful racing career has been to hold the title of both Pro Men's and Pro Women's first place overall rankings in the same year!


Ontario Provincial DH Championships - Calabogie, Ontario

The famous fast and furious Red course was pegged for the Provincials and it turned out to be in perfect condition, a little dust suppressing rain fell the day before the race and everybody was stoked to give it their all.

Women
In the women's field it was none other than Sheila Morris, the former Team Canada member, blazing the field by over a minute.

Two super fast rippers battled it out, Derek Cowell (who will be representing Canada at the Worlds this year) just barely took out Team Dropmachine.com rider Chris Dufault. Brian Serneels of Bits and Bikes pulled off 3rd

Elite Men
A battle was waged between National Team and Norco Team member Justin Brown (also going to the Worlds in Italy) and Canada Cup and Sweet Pete's Primary ripper Peter McLean. When the Tag Heuer System read its final beeps, Justin was the winner, Peter in second and fellow Sweet Pete's/Primary team mate Ondrej Neumann in 3rd.

For the Ontario Cup DH finals, we moved over to the steep and nasty Orange course, littered with drops and steep rocky chutes, which took its toll on many, with flats, twisted bikes, taco'd rims and derailleurs everywhere.

Multi-Laser Gananoque Downtown Criterium - Ontario

You are invited to attend the Multi-Laser Gananoque Downtown Criterium on September 11th. This race will be a single race, 100km long, and will be open to elite riders from all categories. We are offering approximately $ 3000 in prize money and primes. This race will be held on the same exciting course that the criterium stage of the Multi-Laser Grand Prix has been held on for the last 5 years.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Gananoque and again next year for the return of the Multi-Laser Grand Prix Stage Race in 2006.

Cycle Ontario Alliance 2005 Bicycle Conference

"Working for a more bicycle friendly Ontario"

Please join the Cycle Ontario Alliance and our local hosts (Hamilton, and Burlington Cycling Advisory Committees and the McMaster Alternative Commuting and Transportation Office) in Hamilton this fall for a day of discussion and information exchange around cycling issues and topics.

The proposed itinerary has great speakers, presentations, and lots of opportunities for networking and interaction including:
* an informal reception on Friday night (Oct. 21) on campus at the Phoenix Pub from 7pm to 11:00pm
* a Sunday am (Oct. 23) bike ride, and
* for the day of the conference (Oct. 22) a keynote guest speaker with sessions and poster displays on topics such as:

- Current cycling plans - How relevant and transferable are they?
- More than infrastructure: successful community cycling programs
- The potential for cycling in Ontario
- How effective are current cycling skill education programs?
- Kyoto Agreement ˆ getting policies and projects that benefit cycling
- How to plan events and help your advocacy efforts?
- Facility design: Managing Risk and Liability
- Facility design: Provincial Highway Interchanges
- Marketing COA (including products and services such as insurance)
- Poster session - What's happening for cyclists in your community, or
What have you done to promote cycling?
