Pedalhead Road Works Alberta Cross Cup - E-Town Cross Classic

Pedalhead Road Works and Riess Productions are proud to present the first race in the Pedalhead Road Works Alberta Cross Cup. The race will take place Sunday Sept. 25th at Tiger Goldstick Park on the proven 2001 Nationals Course. The 2.5 km circuit has 500 m of pavement with rolling XC ski trails through Edmonton's amazing River Valley Trail network. The famous Bacardiberg is back again and no doubt will be the launching ground for many savage attacks. Rain, snow or sunshine, this course is always fast and decisive.

The following categories will be offered: Open Men, Women, Expert and Sport (consult your ABA Handbook for descriptions). Cross bikes mandatory in "Elite/Open" and "Expert" categories as outlined in the ABA Rule Book.

Cost is $20 and race registration is permitted. First race starts at 11:00 am with sign on closing 30 mins. before your category. Facilities with showers will be open for all racers pre and post event. Prizes include cash and a Cross Frame/Fork. Cross Video Night - To kick off the Cross season Pedalhead Road Works will be showing the 2003 Cross World Championships at Leva Cappuccino Bar in Edmonton (11053 86 ave) on Sept 7th from 7-9 pm. Admission is free, so just show up and grab a Belgian beer and enjoy. The race is in Flemish so practice up.

Sept. 4th

Pat Ferris was the mountain bike race winner, Sunday, with a time of 50:29 minutes for three laps. Gary Hilderman was close behind at 51:00 and Roger St. Jean was third at 55:09.

A small crowd of eight riders started under perfect sunny fall conditions. Pat Ferris lead the first up hill section but was caught and passed in the tricky single track by Gary Hilderman. The two traded the lead until the final lap. Pat Ferris, the two-time club mountain bike champion, pulled away on the final for the close win.

Kevin Cooper was fourth at 1:02:15 and Sam Keats 5th at 1:13:39.

Gord ŒThe Hammer‚ Harris was the 2-lap winner at 41:44. Adam Currie was second at 50:05 and Trisha Gladysz third at 1:01:00.

Coming up:
• Monday: World Famous club Quiche Ride to Dawson Creek at 8 am from Courthouse Tim Hortons.
• Thursday mountain bike time trial at 6:30 pm at Beatton Park.
• Sunday final Challenge Cup mountain bike race at 2 pm. The club needs a minor miracle and a huge turnout to get the 110 points to win this years‚ series.
