The UCI has released the 2006 World Cup calendar. As expected, there are 6 events for cross country, downhill and 4-cross, and 5 marathon events (the first event on the Marathon calendar is not yet announced). The cross country circuit starts earlier than normal in a new location - the Caribbean island of Curaçao. The series then takes a break of over a month before moving to Europe for three consecutive weekends (Spa (Belgium), Madrid and Fort William (Scotland) ). Another break of nearly a month, and then Mont Ste Anne, Quebec. The Worlds take place earlier than normal in Rotorua, New Zealand before heading back to Europe for the World Cup Final in mid-September at Schladming, Austria. There are three triples - Fort William, Mont Ste Anne and Schladming.
The Downhill/4-cross series begins in May, in Vigo (Spain), with a break of two weeks to the next in Fort William, followed by Willingen (Germany). Then Mont Ste Anne and Balneorio Camboriu (Brazil) before the Worlds and finally Schladming.
