Jet Fuel Team Update

Earlier today, Jet Fuel Coffee sent out a release stating that they were no longer working with Cyclepromo on the national level team which has bourne their name - instead they will be running their own program in-house. This has led to some confusion as to whether the Cyclepromo squad still exists. We just spoke with Dave Butler of Cyclepromo, the owner of the team that has for the past seven years been sponsored by Jet Fuel.

"The team run by Cyclepromo will not be sponsored by Jet Fuel in 2006, that is the situation" explained Butler. "We were trying to figure out how my team could stay involved with Jet Fuel, it was going to be a transitional year, but it was too confusing for sponsors. Jet Fuel wants to move to a more regional focus. I say to people who think it's a split, no - I'll be behind counter (at Jet Fuel Coffee) working with John on Saturday and Sunday.

"We (Cyclopromo) still have a team. I'm busy working on sponsorship for 2006. A lot of existing sponsors will stay with the team. The team I'm organizing, one of our focusses will be to win a Canada Cup, and to have a national focus with some select international events. As for riders, I can't say right now, have to talk to all the riders on the team, explain to them what is going on.
