Unexpected flat tires are part of cycling and to make matters worse, a hand pump that requires a few hundred strokes to get to proper inflation can be an irritating thing (especially in the spring when the mosquitoes and black flies are out for blood). You'll be happy to learn that the Mammoth 2Stage pump from Blackburn will get you up and running in no time.

The secret to it's brilliance is the size of the barrel ... it's huge! It moves more air per stroke then any other hand pump available.  On bottom of the handle is a switch that toggles between high volume and high pressure. 'High Volume' mode gets the tire up to pressure quickly.  Once it begins to take some effort, a simple flick of the switch to 'High Pressure' mode and you can continue pumping with ease until proper inflation is reached.  Tested on a 700x23mm road tire, 100psi was reached with 85 strokes, all in less than a minutes time!

2 Stage

The Mammoth 2Stage is made entirely from aluminum, weighs 168g and works with both Presta and Schrader valves.  A bottle cage mounting clip is included yet the pump is small enough to stuff into a hydration pack or jersey pocket.  Max pressure is 120psi, which makes it ideal for both road and mountain bikes.  Like all Blackburn products, the Mammoth 2Stage is fully rebuildable and carries a lifetime warranty. At $39.99 this pump is a steal!  Blackburn is distributed through Outdoor Gear Canada.
